Last Day of Vacation

One of the perks of being a teacher is the long Christmas break.  We got out of school at noon on December 21, and go back tomorrow.  In that time I've watched a lot of football and read a few books, two of my most enjoyable things to do. I like the routine of school, so do look forward to returning tomorrow.  When home, I eat too much and move too little. I hope my clothes still fit.
My husband and I decided not to exchange Christmas gifts this year as we need to save to give our daughter a wedding as she just became engaged.  Nonetheless, a former student was selling her kindle on Facebook, and since that is what I wanted, I went ahead and got it at a very reasonable price  The classics are free, so I downloaded quite a few and have really enjoyed rereading books of my youth.  I restarted Jane Eyre and am really enjoying it. It's been so long since I originally read it.  I am also reading Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.  I recently finished his book Fall of Giants and loved the sweeping history involved, though his ultra liberal/bordering on socialist ideals bug me at times.

I was very disappointed in the performance of the SEC East in their bowl games, but loved watching Alabama, Mississippi State, and Florida beat up on the Big 10.  I hope Arkansas continues that trend in the Sugarbowl tonight.  The biggie for me is the Cotton Bowl Friday night as my LSU Tigers play the Texas A&M Aggies.  Can't wait!!! I am also hoping the Saints make it back to the big dance, but it'll be a hard fought run.

The Ring
Wedding plans for my daughter, Caitlyn, are underway.  She plans to marry in New Orleans on March 3, 2012.  We plan to attend a bridal fair in February and she's already picked her colors.  We just need to save the $$$$$ in order to make her dreams possible.
The Proposal
Her fiance, Geoff, surprised her with a trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter as a Christmas/2 year anniversary gift, and proposed in Ollivander's Wand Shop.

Well, it's time to get around and clean the house, make sure all the Christmas decorations are put away, and get papers graded and recorded. It's back to the routine.
